My Story on Meet, Plan, Go!

I discovered Meet, Plan, Go! while contemplating my first career break.  The organization was instrumental in helping me turn my dream into a reality.  The inspiration I received through other’s stories gave me the confidence to take the leap.  The tips and tools the organization offered supported the creation and execution of my ‘sailbattical’ plan.

So how did I come to write for Meet, Plan, Go?

For quite some time, I had been thinking of submitting my own story to the organization in hopes that I could inspire potential career breakers in the way that others had inspired me.  However, something always got in the way (e.g.  doubt, writers block, indolence, love, the sea, the moon, the stars).

In December, I received an email from Meet, Plan, Go! asking me to register my career break  on the site.  What resulted was the first draft of my story, a summary that I included on the registration form.  I felt the story needed more work before I could submit it to the Meet, Plan, Go! Editor  and so I continued to write and (mostly) procrastinate.

In February, I  ran into Sherry Ott, one of the Meet, Plan, Go! founders, virtually while we were both on Oahu.  I shared a bit of my story with Sherry and she asked if I had any interest in writing about my career break adventure.   Sherry’s direct request was the motivation that I needed to complete and submit my story.

Thanks for posting this Lisa – I really enjoyed reading your story on Meet Plan Go. I’ve just registered and now it’s helping me crystallise my thinking and put the reasons Mick and I are taking off “on paper”. It’ll also be my first blog post announcing our trip. A nice little challenge to entertain me while we’re waiting for April 4th.

OMG! So excited! Can not wait to see you and Mick ‘take off’ on your journey and to follow you virtually along the way! Yay!
