In Search of Warmth

Warmth.

A bit elusive here in New Zealand, even in the summertime.

Of course, that is from an ‘I’ve just spent two years sailing in the tropics’ perspective.

But with more cloudy, rainy weather forecasted for the Bay of Islands, we decided to head down to  Mahurangi Harbor via Whagaruru, Urquharts Bay, and Kawau Island in search of warmth and sunshine.

And while we’ve managed to find a bit of good weather along our way, the greatest source of warmth came from time spent in the company of friends, new and old.

This comment is from my good friend and fellow blogger Liesbet of

“I guess you are sailing “south to the sun”, even downunder! I am very glad that you found some warmth, with the weather and with friends, and I hope you will be able to keep doing this all through 2015! Hopefully, Mark and I can be part of it at some point. Xxx”

Such gorgeous photos. Yes warmth is all a matter pf perspective. i am feeling warm after shoveling the sidewalks clear of snow. 🙂 Happy New Year and Happy Sailing!

Thank you Sue! Your recent plunge further put warmth in perspective for me 🙂

Beautiful pictures. I have never seen a peacock up close, that must have been a great experience.
Well I have never dined inside a boat either, and that looks like a lot of fun.

Thank you Krithya! Maybe you will add sailing to your bucket list. I see your #38 is Boat race, Kerala but those vessels look a bit challenging to dine aboard 🙂
