Nice Things

David and Julia
David with Julia (a fan and a friend)

I first met David Merritt while he was holding court on K-Road at the conclusion of my All Fresco festival tour.

David creates poetry housed in hand crafted booklets made from ‘recycled mass-produced’ tomes.

I was curious to see the words inside, but David warned me that much of what he’d created would make me want to slit my wrists.  I was having a good day, so I asked for one of his less fatal offerings.

He recommended ‘Nice Things’

My favorite was “computer games manufacturers start to incorporate standalone libraries, wikis, and centers of education into their products and over time, these become more popular than pimping, the Ho, doing the drive by shooting, and running over pedestrians.”

David will be reading at The Wine Cellar at St Kevin’s Arcade on May 6th, but most days, you can find David as I do, sharing his creations on K-Road with fans, friends, and interested passers-by.

If you’d like to consume David’s creations virtually, you can find them here.

An artist meets and artist.
And so it should be.

He does rock, doesn’t he :-). Glad that you got to meet him in person!

What a rewarding discovery! I too loved the nice things! They are not impossible thoughts.
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. I am enjoying the ride with you.

Thank you so much! I enjoy traveling with you virtually Lucile, even if we are separated by two Oceans, I feel like you are right by my side.

What an interesting person to pass by! As I was reading his nice things I laughed and thought to myself that was funny. My favorite was the one of the Library as well. Thank you Lisa, for the ride.

You are absolutely lovely to say so Eva! Am so pleased to know you enjoyed ‘Nice Things’. Wonderful to have you along for the ride 🙂

I bet you’ve been meeting all sorts of really interesting people on your travels!

Indeed Karen. The best part of traveling is the people I meet along the way 😉
