Way to cool!

Thank you Gary!

Now that is one serious time piece! Love the man and the shadow.
Sending our best across the miles Lisa to you and the Captain.

Apparently, it is quite a time piece to behold …when it is operational. Unfortunately, the day I chose to take the hour long train ride to see the ‘Hornsby Water Clock’ in action was the day that it was shut down to set up for a concert. Still, it looks like it is worth a second train trip to see it in all its glory. So ‘Hornsby, here I come’ (again).

Thank you for your good wishes for The Captain. Your positive vibes are very welcome.

You know, I though about it further and realized how fortuitous it was that the clock wasn’t ‘flowing’ yesterday. I made the best of it and got this shot which I like. So it was a good day. Thanks for your compliment Sue ?

Sounds like a very positive way of looking at things Lisa. It will be fun to compare the images with the clock functioning. Sending you both hugs.

Hugs welcome ?. Thank you Sue

Sometimes time floating… 🙂

Very well captured… 🙂

? Thank you Drake. And certainly the best way to spend time is afloat ⛵️

Fabulous photo. Time stood still. 😉 Love the shadow of the bird.

I am delighted that you like the image Ann. That bird shadow was an extra bonus that I was treated to in post processing. It was like the man’s spirit following him or time catching up with him.

Time stood still indeed. My favorite thing about photography is capturing a moment, where time stops. And given the water clock was not operating that day, time actually did stand still in Hornby.

Brilliant shot, Lisa. As you wrote to your comment to Sue, it was worth the train travel. The way you shot it and made it into black and white, the clock looks incredibly striking. I also like how you captured the man and his shadow. Shadows are dependent on time; shadows move with time and in the olden days, are time itself. Really like how you left the shadow of the bird in – we can’t see the bird but we know it’s there and a part of this continuum in time.

Best wishes to you and the Captain. Mr Wobbles sends you and your crew good vibes and a few monkey waves. It is warm here in Melbourne, and today’s 30’C breezy day made me think of you as I was out – you’d love this weather 🙂

? Monkey vibes and waves from Mr Wobbles and your beautifully eloquent description of the image are all very welcome Mabel. Thank you❣

Hope you are having a lot Celt day. It is warm and breezy here in Sydney but looks like we’ve got a southerly headed our way ⛈.

Hi Dorn, I love the photo. I love it even more now that I know the clock had stopped , time stood still for that man and his shadow. I’d love that for myself on occasion . Holding you and the Captain in a warm light.

? Well thank you Renea. What a treat to hear from you. I thought of you the other day when I was photographing a barbershop. I could benefit from a little time standing still too ⌛️. Your warm hug is very welcome ✌️

A man and a clock. Is the man catching up with time or is time catching up with the man? There is a time for everything and right now, it is time for the Captain to get better and the crew of Amandla to be happy. Our best wishes, Lisa.

? It is all of those things Liesbet…most especially time for recovery and happiness ?.

Well done Lisa! Hope everyone is hanging in there! I am really enjoying your street photography!!

? As I am enjoying your daily ‘minimalism’ Meg. Thank you for your support artistically and emotionally. The Captain has finished round two yesterday and we are hopeful for minimal side effects this time around.

I love your use of b&w. Yum! You should do more 🙂

I like the shadows from the middle down. That said, the light section top left is taking my eye out of the frame. Also on the right, but less so. Darkening that down would take care of that. in fact, darkening down a few sections right at the top will help the composition which is a little busy.

The gentleman at the front is perfect. His head is against the dark area and his black bag is against the white and I love his position. I’d be tempted to crop the top just under the car so the focus is entirely on the clock and the chap. I wonder what the image would look like shot earlier or later in the day.

Another great Dorenfest piece. Yay you.

Great feedback as always Karen! Love your suggestions . Your insights are invaluable. I thought of you btw when I did this #BNW

Awesome photograph Lisa. Fabulous with the older man in front of it. Truly a great day to make a photograph like that. Hope you and the captain are doing well. Sending much love and hugs!

? Ahoy there Esther! Great to hear from Sedona I’m glad you like the photo. Really, I got lucky. I wonder how photos would turn out if I planned them ?

The Captain just finished round two and we are hopeful for minimal (no side effects). Round 3 is March 1st followed by scans a few weeks later to assess progress. Love and hugs welcome ?

Love your photo with the water clock (I’ve never seen one) and the shadows of the man and bird. Like father time with the crow following him around the clock. Not that it was a crow but that’s what came to me when viewing your photo. Or, the older man with the shadow of his younger self in front of him. Wanderings of my mind when I view photos:) Must be amazing to see this clock in motion too.

Oooo – I love both your interpretations of the image‼
I hope to see the clock in motion soon as I have never seen a water clock in action either, and this one seems pretty intricate. Thank you for your visit and thoughtful comment

I think luck was on your side for this image–you captured more without the water. Great pic!

? Thank you Frankie Beane ?

Thanks for joining in. Glad you enjoyed Shenkin. 🙂

Thanks for hosting such a great challenge Draco and for the Shenkin tip ?

I keep looking at that clock and trying to figure out what it will do when it’s working. Please do send an update when you go back! The old man / the fleetingness of time is perfectly captured!

Thank you Lexi! I will definitely share a photo of the clock in action. Hope I can get a good one. I think I am going to head out there tomorrow. Sending positive vibes your way
?

That is a cool clock! How did you get the older gentleman to randomly walk by to further depict time? Well- done, girlfriend!

Thank you Terri! Got lucky with the fellow walking by. A welcome gift.

Love this picture of time. I know my time just seems to run on by without me even noticing, scary.

⏰ Indeed. Glad you liked the photo Eva ?

Time is relative.
Wonderful photo of the clock and the older gentleman walking by.
Time is flying for him and us all so keep enjoying and exploring!!
It is a wondrous world.

? Thank you for your compliment. Totally agree that we need to spend as much time enjoying and exploring as possible ❣

I’m still a bit ‘all at sea’ since I got back from the Algarve, Lisa. Hope all is going well for you and your man. 🙂

Great to see you Jo! The Captain is doing well after round 2 of chemo. 4 more to go. We are very hopeful that there are many more anchorages in his future.
