Waiting Room

The decision is made. The boat and crew are ready. The wait is over.

We are throwing off the dock lines on May 2nd and sailing to Singapore via Torres Strait, Darwin and Indonesia.

I am very sad to leave everything Sydney behind, but the best time for me to sail away is when I am desperately clinging to shore.

The sea is calling and new adventures await!

Wishing you happy sailing 🙂

Thank you Ann! Anchors up this morning. Hope all well with you and yours ?

Waving goodbye to you from across the ditch.

Liesbet says:

Yay! I am so excited for you and the next episode in this sailing journey! Have a smooth and uneventful strip to Singapore. Looking forward to reading about your new adventures and impressions! One step closer towards your goal! Hug to you and the Captain! 🙂

? Thanks Liesbet. Anchors up this morning although I may return from Newcastle to Sydney by train for one day before we head onward to Queensland. I don’t think the leaving will feel ‘real’ until we are north of Newcastle (our entry port in 2015). Hugs back to you and Mark.

Such a wonderful shot for Cardinal’s challenge. Beautifully blended together, and there is a strong artistic vibe to it. Happy sailing, Lisa. Good to hear that you and the crew are raring to go on this new adventure, and I’m sure you will have many more adventures along the way. Good luck, stay safe, be good. Mr Wobbles waves at all of you and wishes you well. He wishes he can come 🙂 Hope you enjoyed your time in Australia, and it was very nice to have met you when you visited Melbourne <3

Thank you for your kind compliment and well wishes Mabel. Anchors up today I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to meet you and hope our paths cross at some future date. Wishing you an Mr Wobble’s Happy Birthdays ???

Safe travels, inspiring sailor! Looking forward to hearing from your new adventures! ?❤️

? Thank you Lucile. I do hope we can entice you for a visit.

So excited for you Lisa! Best of luck with the adventure ahead. I shall wait for posts here and on IG with much anticipation. So delighted for you and the Captain this next chapter is about to begin! Xoxo

Thank you Sue. Just sailed out of the heads and it was a sad farewell. Your visit to Sydney was a top highlight of my time there. Maybe we’ll get lucky and see you and Dave in another port along our sailing route. ?⛵️⚓️

Oh, exciting! And bittersweet at the same time … I’m sure it’s very hard to leave, but you have such a great attitude about it. It’s tough to pry my sentimental fingers from a place I love, but the thought of new adventure does help. I’m looking forward to your trip as much as you are!

Bittersweet indeed. A very emotional sail out of the Sydney Heads today. But then I saw a dolphin along the coast and was like ‘I’m ready for this’. And we are going to be just a 2hr train ride away for a week, so I may have one more visit to Sydney before we sail away from NSW for good. Am glad to have you on board for the adventure virtually …and you are always welcome for a visit.

Traveller at heart says:

One ocean at a time…….Have a lovely trip and a safe journey, Lisa. Looking forward to the updates. All on board.

⚓️⛵️?? Thank you for your kind adieu. We are underway now, and visiting places we’ve already been as we head up the coast. The real adventure starts when sail out of Newcastle to places we’ve not yet visited. Delighted to have you sail along with us virtually ⛵️?

How exciting for you all! Just love following you all over the world! The photography is stunning! Bon voyage and keep well!

Thank you for putting a smile on my face Terri. Come visit; bring your SUP

Susi says:

Safe travels to you and the Captain! Sydney appears to have been a fun and interesting first world stop on your travels of the Pacific. It is so fun to follow you on this adventure since leaving Hawaii. The photos and text just keeps getting better and better….you will be able to publish this!
All is fine here on the isle of big. Hugs and kisses to the both of you!!

I wish you were sailing along with us in person Susi! We so miss you and the Isle of Big. As much fun as we have had in Sydney and so many other places along the way, we both agree that Hawaii was our number one place because of the beautiful land and the friendships we forged/renewed there. Now if you would all just come visit. Thanks for your lovely compliments on the blog and the photography. It is my passion.

Debbie says:

Good luck Lisa, may the wind be at always at your sails. Looking forward to hearing about the next big adventure.
We have a saying in Chinese, which simply means safe travels, 一路顺风 “yi lu shun feng” which literally means one road submit wind…..

so wishing you 一路顺风! 🙂

That Chinese saying is perfect (and the characters beautiful)! Thank you for your well wishes and for sailing along with me on the high seas Debbie. We have arrived at anchorage #1 (Coasters Retreat) on our long haul up the coast. Were here on our way down. What’s not to love about the Pittwater area?

Great pic! god’s speed (small g). Be safe! I look forward to reading and seeing more of your adventures. I am dying to go to Singapore. They got foooood.

Glad you liked the pic! Thank you for your good wishes! Maybe we’ll get lucky and we’ll see you in Singapore! How much fun would that be?!?! We won’t get there until November as there are many places to stop between here and there. Tonight, we are enjoying anchorage #1. Shook out a few repairs along the way but everything checks out. Life is Good (with a capital ‘G’).

Have a safe journey to your next adventure! I am looking forward to more stunning photos!

Thank you Janis. We’ve safely arrived in the first of many anchorages to come. It was great to get underway again. The real adventure starts after we leave Newcastle next week…it’s all new anchorages from there. Thanks for coming along for the ride ?

Safe travels, but enjoy your grand adventure. Love the photos.

janet

Thank you for your well wishes and lovely compliment Janet! We have safely arrived in our first anchorage after sadly departing Sydney today. But grand adventure do await and I am excited to experience them!

I hope your journey is beautiful and filled with good things! I’m looking forward to following along via IG. 🙂

Day 1 has been delightful Lisa. Amandla performed well with all of her new adjustments. I got very weepy sailing out of Sydney but excited about new adventures. See you on IG ???

Michele says:

Starting anew is very exciting, and it makes leaving a little easier! Wishing you fair winds and safe travels!

It does indeed Michele! I was very weepy when we sailed out of the Sydney Heads this morning, but then saw a few dolphins a little ways up the coast and everything felt right. We are in our first of many anchorages on our slow journey to Singapore and will arrive on in November. So many places to see in between. Thanks for your well wishes ⛵️

That is Monday! 🙂 Bons vents my dear, and a smooth sea. Do keep us informed when you reach port.

Thank you for the well wishes Brian. We sadly sailed out of Sydney yesterday, but after seeing a few dolphins up the coast, I was excited to be underway. We will be stopping many places on our way up the coast with plans to arrive in Darwin in July and Singapore in November. Life is good!

Love dolphins. Used to see many passing by in front of our house in West Africa. Singapore in November? Sounds nice. Life is indeed good. take care.

Rob Weir says:

Good luck on the next leg

Thank you Rob! Great to see you in Sydney! Maybe we will get lucky and you will visit again in one of our future ports ⛵️

Ladybuggz says:

Be so very careful Lisa, especially around Indonesia, I’ll be thinking of you! Be Safe! Get your sea legs back! Ha ha!! send lots of pictures….T ((hugs))

Thank you Teresa. I promise we’ll be safe. We left yesterday and are under sail as I write this. But we’ll be hugging the coast of Australia until July when we reach Darwin. Then it’s on to Indonesia and Singapore

How exciting, Lisa! Bon Voyage to you and the Captain. Love both these images.. 🙂

Thank you Sylvia for you well wishes and lovely compliments on the photos. We sadly left Sydney yesterday, but being back at sea is awesome. The real adventure begins next week when we leave Newcastle and start visiting ports that are new to us.

Godspeed Lisa! May calm seas and wonderful adventures be waiting for you! We send all our best!

⚓️ Ahoy Meg. Thank you for your well wishes. We sadly sailed out of Sydney yesterday, but have already had a few dolphin sightings to lessen the sorrow of departure ?. Hugs to Master Hubble and Jack Henry ??

Sounds fantastic! I would love to see that part of the world!

Maybe you’ll come for a visit! You are always welcome. Enjoy your European City tour coming up ?

Say hello to Singapore for me. I have never been but my father was born in Malaya and many family members lived and worked in Singapore. My father was captured there in 1942, and I have been working on his memoirs, so it is a city I feel I know well, though in a rather old-fashioned format.

Oooh I would so love to read those memoirs. It will take us until November to sail to Singapore..so many places to see along the way. So looking forward to seeing Malaysia as well ?

“I am very sad to leave everything Sydney behind, but the best time for me to sail away is when I am desperately clinging to shore.” Such a meaningful thought and true for any explorer. Here’s wishing you and the captain bon voyage! And look forward to reading mores posts of new lands and adventures at sea.

Thank you Cheryl for your understanding and for your thoughtful send off! We arrived in Newcastle today, the place where we entered this beautiful country, so it was a bit like coming home. But I am so excited to sail out of here with the first good weather to places unknown. It may take a week for that window to present itself, but I hope it is sooner because I am ready.

Wonderful photos both of them. I love the reflections and the graffiti is also cool.
Philosophically speaking we’re all in the waiting room.

Forgot to say: Safe travels!

Thank you for your very generous compliment Max. We are indeed all in the ‘Waiting Room’. I also thank you for expanding the rules of The Changing Seasons so I could participate in it this year. It’s the highlight of my month. I’m really excited to see what May will bring.

Have a great trip! By now you are on your way!

Thank you for the well wishes Sandra. We have arrived in Newcastle which is a long sail but a short (3hr) train ride form Sydney. We are here waiting for a weather window to head to North, hopefully with our next stop in Noosa.

themofman says:

You’re amazing.

Flattery will get you everywhere Allan ??

quarksire says:

how so very awesome….. 🙂 sail safe 🙂

⛵️ Thank you very much for your well wishes!!

badfish says:

Seasons…shmeesons. Every day is a new season with you. Love that first photo…so, oddly cool. And the second…is that an octopus flying onto a guy’s head, and what kind of socks is he/she wearing? So…bon voyage, girl!
Oh…and get this. A month ago, I was pretty sure I would not be in Bali this summer. However, I can’t seem to make decisions, and now it just may be that I am in Bali this summer….but no decisions have been made!!!

Thank you for the love Mr Badfish! I was trying my hand a double exposures while hanging out around Sydney’s Mortuary Station. The ‘Squidney’ street art overlaying the rails in the second image comes from a nearby piece of street art by Lauren YS.

You HAVE to come to Bali or somewhere in Indonesia while I am sailing through there. We would have a BLAST. Perhaps you can delay making up your mind until the last minute and then just pop on over to wherever SY Amandla is at that moment. Always welcome.

Lisa.
You are an inspiration with your adventurous spirit.
Happy safe and venturesome sailing!

The feeling is mutual! Thank you for your well wishes and for sailing along with me virtually!

How exciting for you? OMG, on the journey again. I feel like I’m traveling with you, I guess spiritually I am. I wish you a safe journey. GOD BLESS YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE.

Thank you so much Eva! We are currently in Newcastle waiting for a weather window to head on up to Queensland and visit new places. I am so glad to have you along for the ride! I hope you are having a wonderful Mothers Day ?

Wonderful images, Lisa! I’m now wondering how far you’ve got to, but there’s a newer post so I’m off there to see. Hugs, darlin’ 🙂

Ahoy there Jo! Great to hear from you. Hope you had a lovely time traveling with your Dad. . Thank you for the compliments on the images. We are sailing along the east coast of Australia off the shores of Queensland at the moment. Life is good.

Safe travels and happy adventures Lisa! Next time hope you make it across to Perth! 🙂

Next time around :-). Or maybe we’ll catch up in Europe if we sail there and you are visiting. It will be a few years.

Enjoy the journey. You’re living the dream. 🙂

I am a lucky gal!
