I’d been struggling to come up with a submission for The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Inspiration for a couple of reasons:
- I am currently resident in less than inspiring surroundings (a very comfortable, safe, yet soulless marina) while The Captain returns stateside for 10 days. I could have easily traveled to nearby villages or cities for inspiration, but I really wanted to use my first days of ‘me time’ to thoroughly clean the boat end-to-end without the Captain simultaneously ripping it apart to fix things.
- This challenge seemed strikingly close to the 26 June 2015 ‘Muse’ challenge, so I felt like I’d be repeating myself if I focused my post on the ‘subject’ that most inspires my photography.
Thus, I was planning to skip this week’s challenge…until I read a recent post from Teddy J., a fellow blogger and host of the very informative Sail Loot Blog and Podcast.
Sail Loot features interviews with / practical strategies from sailors who are enjoying the cruising lifestyle (long term readers of my blog may recall that Teddy interviewed me for Episode 008 of the Podcast). Teddy also shares sailing stories, tips and best practices for web-commuting, on-line businesses and internet marketing.
I don’t typically reblog other’s posts, and ordinarily wouldn’t consider doing so for a photo challenge. But I was inspired by Teddy’s honest, heartfelt self-disclosure and his courage to ‘be himself first’ in Sail Loot Episode 025: Peaks and Troughs of Sailing, Life and Money
So I thought I would turn this week’s challenge on its head and reblog Teddy’s post as my submission. You can read it and/or listen to it here.
Hope to see you living your sailing dream soon Teddy!
