Although the summer solstice is nearly upon us in New Zealand (December 21, at 23:03 UTC) the weather feels more like an early spring.
The fog, wind, and rain has turned even the yellows here to grey, so I am once again brightening my day revisiting photos from winter in French Polynesia.
Wherever you are, I hope you are warm and dry.
As the seemingly never-ending late spring rains are keeping us anchored in Opua, New Zealand, I sit fondly recalling those lazy days of winter in French Polynesia where time almost stands-still in the warmth of the tropics.

Today, I’m headed back to Opua via bus from Auckland. The bus had a breakdown just after we got underway and we enjoyed 2 1/2 hours on the roadside being repaired.
To keep myself from pulling my hair out on the remaining four hour bus journey. I decided to complete this assignment with a couple of images taken during happier days in French Polynesia earlier this year.
Hope you enjoy them!

For this week’s challenge, I share a photograph from my Outrigger Canoe Series taken earlier this year while sailing in French Polynesia
A man, a canoe, and an ocean. The great Polynesian migration. A 2000 year old story of love, strength and survival that continues today.
