Nana Marquesas – Aloha Hawaii (The Big Island)

We arrived in Hilo, Hawaii on December 3rd after a fantastic 12 day sail from Nuku Hiva  – 12 to 18 knot winds on the beam the whole way!

Shortly after we arrived, we met up with two of the Captain’s friends from college that live on the island.   We have spent many wonderful evenings with them and their fabulous friends.  We have also been introduced to the beautiful art that many of them have created  – I’ve added them to my Artists page so you can enjoy their work too.

In addition to new friends in Hilo,  we’ve met some wonderful sailors in Radio Bay AND have had a visit from my friend Esther from New York!

The Big Island is incredibly beautiful and diverse with 8 micro climates.  From the sea to the volcanoes, its breathtaking.

We’ve enjoyed the Big Island so much that we almost don’t want to leave.   But the sea is calling and we plan to head to Molokai on January 15th.

Lucky for us, we will be taking one of our new friends along as crew to Molokai AND we expect have more visits from family and friends (new and old) as we tour the Hawaiian Islands.  Because we love it so much, we plan to come back to Hilo for a visit in March on our way back to the South Pacific.

Yay!
