After 1.5 years at sea, I think that I am finally starting to relax.
We arrived in Baie De Cook (also PaoPao Bay) Moorea on Friday, June 27 following a challenging sail. First order of business was to rest and take some photos around the anchorage.

The next day, it was early to rise.
I did a bit of cleaning up while the Captain successfully fixed our broken traveler. He hadn’t yet figured out how to fix the leaky engine muffler, so we decided to think up a solution while exploring Moorea.
On Sunday, we enjoyed a 16 K hike to Belvedere with John, John and Ivy from Ruby Slippers.

Monday, it was a trip to town with the crew of Ruby Slippers for lunch.

While in town, I met a local man hand carving flutes. I asked him if I could take a few photos and he was amenable. The flutes were beautiful and not too expensive, so I bought one for Amandla. Not being musically inclined, I brought it back to the Captain and asked him if he could play it. Our friend John said that he thought the man had been playing the flute with his nose. I said I didn’t think so and the Captain went on to attempt to play it with his mouth.
Shortly afterward, I looked back at my pictures and indeed, John was right. Oops, sorry Captain.
Tuesday was more boat chores, but Wednesday, we got the bikes out and headed toward Baie De Opunohu (also Papetoai Bay). I felt like a kid again!

That evening, we went to the dance recital of a local school. Not exactly the level of dancing that we had seen recently in Bora Bora or last year in Gambier, but enjoyable none the less.

Thursday, the Captain implemented his solution for the leaky muffler. It was successful (of course) so we left for Tahiti on Friday, the 4th of July, a perfect way to celebrate independence!
