Stringing Hei
I spotted this woman outside the Papeete Market making Hei (known as Lei in Hawaii). I was drawn into this moment by the craftsmanship and effort put forth by this artisan to create such beauty and by the abundance of surrounding colors.

While the woman above can be seen daily outside the market stringing Hei, I discovered that on Saturdays, Papeete is awash with Hei makers. I have created a gallery of some of the beautiful creations and creators that I came across while walking through town.
