For today’s assignment, I share an image taken while sailing through Niuatoputapu, Tonga via sailboat in September of this year.
This women is transforming turninglou´akau or pandanus leaves into materials for weaving ta´ovala or waist mats and other goods. The weaving materials and end products created in Niuatoputapu are said to be the finest in all of Tonga.
