I happened upon this image while walking along K-Road in Auckland and wanted to know more.
I have since learned that ‘#WithSyria is a movement of over 130 organizations and people around the world not taking sides, but standing in solidarity with those caught in conflict. Banksy lent his support and this image to the #WithSyria movement to say: there is always hope.’
As reported by The BBC, Banksy reworked one of his most celebrated pieces to mark the third anniversary of the ongoing conflict in Syria….a year ago in March of 2014.
The words comprising the balloon string ‘and with the children of Pakistan‘ were sadly added in December.

Lisa, it’s a beautiful post. To share Banksy is already a wow factor, and the message left by this image made it even more meaningful. Thanks.
Thank you Lucile! Surprisingly, with all the street art I have come across in my travels, this was my first Banksy. And what a Banksy it is. I am hopeful that a peaceful solution can be found to end the suffering and atrocities.
Wow, that’s a powerful image and a lovely post.
Thank you very much Desleyjane. A powerful image indeed!
I came across one on a small, tunnel wall in Bergamo, IT. He gets around.
Thank you for stopping by! I think for the #WithSyria campaign, he created stencils and had his ‘crew’ post them around the globe. The stencil I saw was on a wall outside the Amnesty International Office. They are one of the 130 coalition members. Glad to know you saw it in Italy!
Beautiful post
Thank you Karen 🙂
[…] I invite to the B & W challenge is Lisa (here) who is traveling the world “one ocean at a time” […]
What a powerful message! A lovely share, Lisa 🙂 If only we could hope for a world like that.
Thank you Jo. I really appreciate your wonderful comment and your RT :-).
