On this stretch of Whangaparaoa Road, it is downhill after 50.
But if I’d been able to capture a picture of the ‘road of life’, I think it would look more like an on-going series of hills and plains with some unexpected curves along the way.
And I believe that the longer one travels the ‘road of life’, the better equipped they are to navigate it, except when severely hindered by baggage accumulated in their ‘trunk’.
For Day 4 of the 5 Day B&W Photo Challenge and for Cee’s Which Way Photo Challenge 2015: Week #11
That’s a most insightful post. The photo couldn’t be better suited for your words, which I 500% agree with. Anytime people talk aging around me as if it is a disease, they always stare at me when I say that I love aging, discounting possible diseases. I like the way I think much better now than when I was younger. I definitely feel much better prepared to live now and I am sure this mindset will continue as I grow older.
Thanks for the morning inspiration
Have a great weekend.
You are welcome Lucile and thank you for your kindness. I like your style!
I adore your photo and caption this week. 🙂
Thank you Cee 🙂
Great post, Lisa. Downhill can mean something positive–meaning life gets easier, I think. Now 55 and semi-retired, I’m on a downhill ride and love it. Sure there are the metaphorical bumps, rises and dead squirrels in the road but that IS life. LOL. I agree with Lucile, though there is some extra baggage in the trunk 🙂
Thank you Terri! I love your ‘downhill is easier’ twist on this and that you are loving the ride :-). We are very lucky ladies!
Put another way… life begins at… 🙂 🙂 A great black and white series, Lisa.
TOTALLY! And thank you so much for the compliments on the BW series and people shots Jo. I’ve really had fun with it.
So lovely, Lisa. I’ve been feeling a bit down today and reading this helped to remind me that there is so much to appreciate and look forward to in this journey. I’m still young and I still have a long way to go. 🙂
Lovely photo, too.
Thank you Britta! I am glad to have been able to brighten your day. And it is all true. It only gets better! Look forward to following you on your journey through life!
I’m certainly looking forward to it! I know it wont always be easy, but I’m sure it will be worth it. 🙂
clever title and play on words (excellent wise metaphor)- 🙂 and what a neat street
🙂 You are lovely to say so Yvette!
<3 (and sorry I did not get to my tweet yet – lol – )
Very well written… 🙂
You are lovely to say so Drake! Thank you 🙂
wondering if the “wrong” side of the road ever enters this metaphor…?
OMG TRB – absolutely love you man! Always observant, insightful, and asking the tough questions. We drive on the left-hand side on the road to Whangaparaoa as opposed to the ‘right’ side in the US. But on the ‘Road of Life’, most days I feel that there is no ‘wrong side’. I believe that we are always where we are supposed to be to learn the lessons we are here to learn. But on my darker days, I feel like I am on the wrong side of the road, no matter which side I am on 🙂
Your attitude is amazing! Thinking of you and your mate and the roads you are taking, inspired, exciting and some days just putting one foot in front of the other. Hoping you will both be skipping to fresh music! Lots of love and aloha!
You are lovely Susi! Thank you for your thoughts and friendship. With one foot in front of the other, we will most certainly be skipping in no time and sailing on the Oceans’ back shortly thereafter. I was just saying to The Captain that when we complete our circumnavigation, we should just keep going and head straight back to you all in Hawaii!
Lots of love!,, we are just returning after a week of snow and skiing in Canada. I love being on vacation! And of course you are always welcome on the isle of big.
It looks like you have had a wonderful week of snow Susi! Hoping you take your next vacation on Amandla 🙂
Great post and words of wisdom Lisa love the analogy!
Thank you so much Rosemary! I had a lot of fun with that one 🙂
