I was delighted to be asked by one of my favorite photographers, Lucile de Godoy from Bridging Lacunas, to post photos of the four classical elements: Water, Earth, Fire and Air.
“It is believed that they reflect the simplest essential parts and principles of which anything can consist, or upon which the constitution and fundamental powers of everything are based.”
I decided to take a trip through the archives for this post, combining images of New Zealand (where I’ve been living since November) and tropical island life (where I will be heading back to in a few short weeks).
WATER
EARTH
FIRE
AIR
Now it is my turn to nominate four bloggers to participate, but instead, I will once again borrow the eloquent words of Michelle Hill…
‘I know that many of my fellow bloggers are regularly asked to participate in these challenges, so rather than nominate an individual, I’m making an offer to any of you who are interested to take up the challenge’.
Whether you take up the challenge or not, you will totally want to check out Lucile’s amazing images for this challenge here.
Great interpretations of the four elements! Beautiful photos and such exotic locations!
Thank you! I am so pleased that you think so Terri! Can’t wait to get back out onto the water and sail to more exotic locations soon!
I put up my four pictures for this challenge.
I was thrilled to see participate in this challenge Connie! The images you submitted are absolutely stunning!
[…] saw on Lisadorenfest a beautiful post about the four elements. Here are my pictures for […]
[…] at a Time,’ posted a photo challenge of sorts – a photographic representation of the Four Elements, Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. This seemed such an intriguing challenge, I decided to give it a go. […]
I love all of your photos, but the water one is stunning!
Thank you so much Lexie! Maupiti is such a spectacular place that the pictures basically take themselves . I feel lucky to have been able to sail there.
I love the volcano one, though all are neat.
Thank you so much Kalyen! New Zealand is FULL of gorgeous volcanoes and I have to say that Tongariro National Park where this volcano is located may be my favorite place in New Zealand (and that says a lot because there are so many awesome places to visit here)!
Yes, I would love to go there.
I hope to see you visit there someday Kalyen
Thank you.
Lovely shots. I really like the earth one: all the strength of the natural forces that’s needed to create a mountain – it’s mind-blowing.
I am truly pleased that you liked the shots Cardinal and totally agree that natures creations are mind-blowing!
And speaking of mind-blowing, I was totally blown away by your submission for this challenge. Awe-inspiring.
Thanks again Lisa for a wonderful compliment 🙂
I love the fire one – very atmospheric!
Well thank you Karen! The performance was amazing and rich in tradition . I felt lucky to be able to experience it.
You had me at the top photograph Lisa-what amazing color and the rest of the images are wonderful interpretations of the elements-well done-Hubble wants to know if is it hard to work with fire–eek 😉 !
You are wonderful to say so Meg! Perhaps when you return from your holiday, Hubble can star in a Four Elements post. Tell him not to play with fire (eek is right) but that I think he would make a great Fire Station mascot.
Good shot on the fire dancer.
Thank you Allan! I am so glad that you think so!
You have to know I’d love the first one, Lisa 🙂
Perhaps the Pacific Islands can tempt you away from your beautiful Algarve for a visit :-). We’ve always got room for you on-board. And TY for the RT ⛵️
What a wonderful thought that is! 🙂
Awesome photos! And great inspiration. I love all four elements. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your compliment Ceclia. Really pleased that you like the photos.
PS – As we are sailing around the world, we use the Nina Soft Spin Dryer you review in your latest post. Love it!
It’s beautiful how you present the four elements with amazing photos. The words are perfectly descriptive.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed the images. Would love to take the credit for the all the words but those that were in quotation marks were lifted from the much more eloquent Lucile de Godoy’s Four Elements post
She is amazing. Thank you for sharing.
I loved these! Great representations! I enjoyed participating in this too in my blog.
I am so pleased you liked them Mani! I very much enjoyed your entry as well! Especially Earth and Air
ALL superb shotZ! wow ! what blue waters also 🙂
You are lovely to say so! Polynesia offers lovely blues. Can’t wait to see the blues in Fiji and New Caledonia.
Lisa – I like the multicultural feel to each of your elements (but of course….) and what a good idea to throw the invite out to all….
Thank you Yvette! Come join us in the fun. I’d love to see your take on the challenge.
OH you are so sweet – but I am going to have pass right now. One of my goals is to finish up on “lingering post ideas” and so that means some challenges are taking a back seat for May. But thanks for the hospitality – <3
changed my mind – I am joining in – thx <3 <3
So pleased that you decided to join in the fun Yvette! Enjoyed your images!
Glad you changed your mind
[…] Check out Lisa’s post HERE if you have some photos to share that align with the 4 elements. […]
It was worth waiting to read your post, Lisa. Your photos blown me away. Thank you so much for participating and for the extremely kind and generous shoutout. Without modesty, I’m not a photographer but just love it. I’m still learning every day and have not yet scratched the surface.
Thank you.
You are lovely to say such nice things about my images Lucile. And you are totally a photographer. As my friend Karen told me ‘you will never take your best photo’ but will always strive to try to perfect your craft. I appreciate the opportunity you gave me to participate in this challenge and for letting me learn from the beauty you create.
Maupiti! Maupiti!
Hoping Fiji is as beautiful! See you there!
