Amandla in Cruising Compass

I am thrilled to report that one of my photos was published in yesterday’s Cruising Compass (# 408) as the ‘Cruising Shot of the Week’.   Issued by Blue Water Sailing Magazine, Cruising Compass is a free weekly journal for sailors and cruisers.  I’ve been a subscriber for years.

The best part is that the picture appeared in the same issue as an update on the voyages of Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia. These Polynesian voyaging canoes are sailing the world’s Oceans in support of a global movement for a more sustainable world.

Our friend the artist Ken Charon took photos of the canoes before they left Radio Bay in Hilo for Papeete, Tahiti at the end of May.  You can read more about their exciting voyage here.   I hope to photograph the canoes while they are in French Polynesia.

More to come soon from the crew of Amandla in Bora Bora!
