Is the statue with the gun trying to keep shoppers in or out? 🙂

Ha ha. You crack me up. I made sure I took his picture from behind so I didn’t have to find out just in case he went all ‘Westworld‘ on me :-). If you look closely, you can see an ‘eerie’ reflection of him checking out passers-by in the store’s window.

HBO is working on an updated TV series of the Westworld

CAN NOT WAIT.

That sign didn’t look to out of place for me except it was in a mall … until I read Auckland. Great photo.

Thank you Cee :-). I hate to admit this, but the scene initially caught my eye because at first glance, I thought the statue was a real person :-). Guess I need to have my eyes checked, but it made for a fun picture.

And thank you so much for sponsoring this Challenge. I have been enjoying other’s submissions for some weeks now and glad that I could join their ranks.

Well, then, I need to have my eyes checked too. Until I started reading the comments, I thought it was a real person and was reflecting upon how hot it must be in boots and a helmet, when it’s so obviously sleeveless-dress and sandals weather!

Ha! Glad to know that I am not the only who thought the statue was human Janice 🙂

Great shot 🙂

Well thank you Duncan! I am so pleased you think so!

Welcome to the challenge! Didn’t realize we could take Rt. 66 all the way from Chicago to Aukland. 🙂 What a trip that would be!

🙂 Thank you for the warm welcome Janet! Rt 66 has a special place in my heart. I started my journey on this earth in Chicago and have driven a great part of that famous road from LA (with a bit of the Interstates thrown in). Would be great to have been able to take it all the way to Auckland but at least I got to sail here :-).

I needed the comments here to fully process this! I was surprised to read this was taken in Auckland with the Route 66 sign (a big part of my road trip life as well) and I definitely thought the guy was real. Even the seemingly oversized pants in the window are weird. Great oddball choice!

I didn’t even pick up on the pants because I was so distracted by the statue and the passer by! You have a good eye (even if you too initially thought the statue was human :-). I’m looking forward to seeing what road trips Ms. Sequoia’s little sister will take you on in the future ….perhaps more travels along Route 66.

well I also think of the US roadtrips we have had along route 66 too 🙂
– I did not know they have a store with this name.
and just FYI – Wal-mart used to carry a line of clothes with the label “Route 66” – wonder if it is connected to his auckland store.
also, about 8 years ago I bought my son the route 66 board game – but we never plated it….

anyhow, very cool shot – I noticed the reflection after I read the comments – and it truly is one of those images that says “so much” I also like the person walking to the left and the door of the other shop there…
and the outfit on the mannequin – well I wonder who dressed him this way? ha!

oh – and I am sure you have enough blogs to check in with every week – but this photo reminded me of Paula’s “Thursday Special” last week – so if you have time – check out P’s blog – I really love it.

Thank you so much for directing me to Paula’s blog Yvette. I do follow Paula as well as many of the bloggers who post to her wonderful Thursday Special so I’ve been keeping up with the challenge. So many wonderful entries for ‘Reflection’, one of my favorite photography topics.

prior says:

oh cool – and the small reflection of this mannequin is really fun

Thank you so much for your comments and lovely compliment Yvette. Glad to know that you all have enjoyed travels along Route 66 as well! The road is certainly a treat to visit. The Auckland Route 66 store seems to be a stand alone venture from what I have read. Worth a visit if you are shopping for denim in the area 🙂

That photo is either funny or horrifying….lol.

Totally 🙂
