The winds have changed and the crew of Amandla are (again) preparing to depart Savusavu for The Lau Group. Given that we have a short (two day) weather window and a birthday party to attend, we will head straight to Vanua Balavu without calling in at Viani Bay, Kioa, Rabi, or Taveuni along the way.
If the winds are in our favor, we will call at those ports before we head west to Viti Levu at the end of July. And hopefully, we will revisit Savusavu one more time before we sail from Fiji….
….because we’ve loved our visit here.

In German we say “Mast- und Schotbruch” which means “Good luck, have a good trip!”
Well thank you so much for such a lovely send off 🙂
These are fabulous photos Lisa. They clearly show how much you loved the place. Your well trained eyes saw the beauty of their life and expressed wit stunning photos. I have no preference as they all are unique and captured a different angle of their daily life.
I wish you a safe trip and much more beauty and discoveries to meet on your way!
Hugs.
You are so very kind to say so Lucile! Thank you for the wonderful compliment and bon voyage!
Very special pictures. You have a great knack for capturing just the right expressive moment!
As do you John! I love your street shots. Thank you so much for your compliment 🙂
These photos are stunning Lisa. I love the vibrant colours and the way you’ve made the people look like you could reach out and touch them. The tender expression on the woman’s face as she looks at the sleeping child has been captured so beautifully. I’m really looking forward to seeing more as you continue your travels. Safe journey.
Thank you so much for your very generous feedback Michelle. I am delighted that you found the photos ‘stunning’, especially given how much I admire your wonderful street photography! I can’t wait to see the images that you capture when you visit here.
Really like the composition of the first image and the expression you captured.
Thank you so much! I felt very fortunate to capture that moment.
Gorgeous shots of not only the rainbow colors but the colors and flavors of people and their expressions!
I am so pleased you think so Terri. Suavusavu is the perfect place for a color ‘addict’. We are headed out today to Vanua Balavu and I hope to be able to capture some cool underwater and/or hiking images to share with the next Leisure Link
I look forward to your posts with eager anticipation 🙂
Colorful and beautiful people you captured. Love the second one especially.
Have a great trip to Vanua Balavu, Lisa! Looking forward to seeing your underwater and hiking photos. 🙂
Your compliments and well wishes have made me smile Amy! Thank you so much. We have left the marina (yay!) and are now in a nearby anchorage relaxing for a a few hours before we head out so we don’t arrive too early tomorrow.
There’s nothing like falling asleep in mum’s or dad’s arms as a kid. An experience that everyone should always remember ’til the end.
Totally agree Allan! It doesn’t get better than that 🙂
Wonderful expressions on the faces. Sweet sailing, Lisa! 🙂
Thank you Jo! We’ve safely arrived and were welcomed by many more beautiful, expressive faces here in Dalaconi Village. Vanua Balavu is charming.
safe travels amiga – and love your take on the wpc – the sleeping child pic- really tugged at the ol heart 0 but each had such a nice feel. 🙂
Thank you for your kindness and well wishes Yvette! Can’t wait to see what you share with us on your new blog!
I spent a very special few days on Viti Levu in 2012 visiting my niece, so I am looking forward to reading more about your time in the Fiji Islands, Lisa. And from what I’ve heard the Lau group of islands are very beautiful – and isolated.
I love traveling with you Jill, even if we are not in the same place at the same time :-). The Lau Group is wonderful so far and I am so looking forward to visiting Viti Levu in August.
Wow. You got the rainbow all right!! I love that first photo, so clean. And the second is a trip!! Perfect.
Big hugs Mr Badfish! Thank you for your kindness!

Smashing street portraits, Lisa!

Thank you for your compliments and well wishes Britta! Apologies for my delay in responding. Have had very limited Internet for the past week.
I most certainly understand…you’re off having the adventure of a lifetime at sea. The blogosphere can wait. So glad to see you back, though. 🙂
