This photo is so vibrant and full of character! Love it!
⚓️ Ahoy There Britta! Great to hear from you. Glad you liked the photo. Thank you!
Great shot. Newtown is another world. You’re spending a lot of time there. 🙂
Well thank you so much Draco! Delighted that you like the shot. Newtown is my favorite stomping ground in this great city of yours. And endless source of entertainment and ideas. Also, The Captain is at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, so we are in the area a lot.
In that case, the Festival of Bacon starts soon at Cuckoo Callay cafe at the entrance to Newtown train station. Yes, you read it right. From March 1 for 12 weeks, a mostly bacon inspired menu. Things like bacon ice cream sandwich etc.

Did I hear meat candy? Someone clearly said bacon! 🙂
Meat Candy Indeed ?
❤️ Bacon! It definitely deserves a festival. Thanks for the tip Draco ‼️
This is such a great shot, Lisa. Looks like she posed for you? Love her colourful dress and the whole hippie feel of your shots. Very grungy and groovy 🙂
Sadie was indeed kind enough to strike a pose for me Mabel. I was standing in front of her shop taking a picture of a stencil across the street when she came out with her bucket and squeegee to do windows. We started a conversation and she struck this playful pose. Her shop is awesome. There is one in Melbourne too (120 Gertrude in Fitzroy).
Speaking of Melbourne, thanks again for meeting me and treating me to dinner when I visited. Delighted to see our meeting made your most recent blog post. Look forward to reciprocating someday.
Squeegee! I love that word! She sounds like an awesome person, very cheery. No surprised she stopped to chat. You certainly have an energetic spirit about you, Lisa. I checked out her shop and love the vintage vibe 🙂
I am sure we will meet in Melbourne again some day. My dreams tell me so <3
?❣
That is so apt
?Thank you so much ???
Great composiiton! You have a way with your subjects.

Colorful and funky! Great shot, Lisa.

Cool pic…….now show me more of Australia!!!!!!! Just kidding hope you are having a rocking good time.
Glad you liked the picture Gary. I’ve been sadly delinquent in posting my Melbourne Road Trip photos here but have shared a few on Instagram . Hoping to visit the Blue Mountains soon as well and share a few more.
Fun shot, look of emotion!
?Thank you Mary! Sadie was very kind to strike such a fun pose.
Hi Lisa, This is definitely a fun photo. Love her dress.
I haven’t been able to post any photos and I don’t know who should I contact. I check all the time. I really like to post but also would like to add pics pertaining to the story. Oh well, maybe later. In the meantime I will enjoy all others post and pic, especially yours. 😀
? Thank you for your compliment Eva and for all your Instagram ❤️ today.
I would so love to see you posting linages again. Have you contacted WordPress support? https://en.support.wordpress.com/
Fun pic! I love playful people!
?????
Thank you Janis ???
I love this! This area sounds like it has an abundance of photo opportunities- hope you are doing well Lisa!
? Thank you Meg. Newtown is definitely abundant in photo opportunities and I hear that it will be even more so with the upcoming (2 week) Mardi Gras celebrations. Hoping we can enjoy a bit of that ????
What a fun photo! Love her hair scarf! Great shot for the theme!
Thank you Terri ✨?✨
I grew up looking at Norman Rockwell’s stuff on magazines, I think like LIFE. Still love his work. Real life works, too. Did you have her pose for you?
I love his work too. He had an incredible flair for stirring the heart, often with the simplest of moments. Would love to see how he’d capture today.
With regard to Sadie, I was standing in front of her shop taking a picture of a stencil across the street when she came out with her bucket and squeegee to do windows. We started a conversation and she struck this playful pose. Her shop is awesome.
This is an absolutely brilliant photo!
? You’ve made my day. Thank you
This makes me smile, big time! Great shot, Lisa! Have a great weekend 🙂
? Thank you Indah! You’ve made me smile with your lovely compliment ?
Oh, she looks like a fun theme/nieche store owner.
Great shot!
? Delighted you like the shot Allan! Sadie was awesome and so is her store!
Fantastic shot, Lisa! Your model exudes vitality. What a lovely girl 🙂
Good progress at home? Hugs, darlin’.
??Thank you Jo! Sadie was definitely vivacious.
Things are progressing well. Round 2 better than Round 1 of chemo (less side effects). We are hoping this is the start of a trend. Round 3 is March 1st. Thank you for asking.
A close friend’s husband is at a similar stage of treatment, Lisa, so I feel for you. It’s going well for him. Hope, prayers and a belief in your Captain 🙂 On a lighter note, I’m watching Rafa do battle in Rio and that’s painful indeed. 🙂
Now I am in crisis management mode so we will communicate when possible … light comments on my part do not mean lack of interest! (Husband had sudden job change and move – DC – mom fell sick and needs me full-time, and my sudden resignation from my long-time job! ACCKK) Hope you are hanging in there! Oh, and great pic!
Thank you for taking the time to comment Lexi. I know that your life if absolutely chaotic right now, so I truly appreciate your visit. I stopped by both of your spaces yesterday but was not surprised to see it quiet given all that is going on. I’m here for you if you need a place to ‘unload’ and I know you are there for me as well. My thoughts are with you and your mother. Hugs ?
How fun is that?! Looks like she was a very enthusiastic model for you Lisa. 🙂
So looking forward to next week! Xo
Sadie was awesome Sue! I hope you have a chance to visit Newtown while you are in Sydney – very colorful. So looking forward to seeing you after your (crazy, scary) Harbor Bridge adventure ?
Such a fun photo, and her shop is great fun too. Do you know/remember this top hit Sadie, The Cleaning Lady by Australian John Farnham? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0c55lXRAeg I expect Sadie would know it. 😉
??? OMG – your selection of video made me ROAR! It is so of its time. I do remember the song but never saw that video. Made my morning. Thanks for your compliment Ann.
It was my first time to see the video, too.
What a great in-the-moment photo. The dress, the hair and the pose. Love it!
Here in the Southern part of Turkey, the fabrics for dress making have boring and uninspiring designs and colors esp the Turkish fabrics. Even the foreign imports are tame.
I have sailed couple of times in the lakes in the UK and Finland. I enjoyed it but it appears that sailing is not a common sport pursued by the Turks in this part of Turkey.
Thank you so much for your visit and lovely compliment. Oh how much I want to visit Turkey by land and by sea (there is some amazing sailing there). My partner traveled there before we were together and I dream of visiting there someday myself. I hope that there is more sailing, and some incredible fabrics in your future. Do you have a blog?
I found your blog via Mabel Kwong.
Love that Mabel Kwong!
Hi Lisa,
There are a lot more expats in cities such as Ismir, Antalya and Istanbul. Perhaps, they have sailing there.
Turkey is a hugh country. I have only been to Antalya and Istanbul; both cities are akin to apple and pear.
I don’t have a blog but do feel free to drop me a line by email if you have a moment to spare.
So many possibilities ?
This looks like a scene from a 70’s movie. I keep thinking of that bacon icecream that Draco mentioned.
?? Have not yet braved the bacon ice cream…but it must be yummy cause it sounds so awful ?
Ha, ha!! A very updated Norman Rockwell.
I wonder what he would be painting now if he was still alive.
So much going on and life is not as simple now.
I would love to see Rockwell 2016! Life definitely seems more complicated today. I am glad I was a kid in
I would love to see Rockwell’s take on today. I am certain he could communicate the complex simply and deeply.
